Membership and Fees
We are a fun club but take rowing seriously. If you have never been in a boat and have never rowed before or have minimal rowing experience, successful completion of a learn to row class is required for your safety before being out on the water or using club equipment.
Rowing is a demanding and physical non-impact sport. Similar to cross country skiing. It is an excellent way to improve and maintain your conditioning and physical health. You must be in reasonable physical condition to row. Getting into a rowing shell is like lowering yourself onto the floor on one leg, while holding onto a doorknob with one hand. Getting out of a shell is like lifting yourself off of the floor with mostly one leg and one arm. You should be able to do this when you sign up. We want to invest our knowledge, expertise, time, energy and equipment in teaching people who have an interest in experiencing rowing and becoming long-term rowers, either recreational or competitive or both.
Members must fill out a membership form, join USRowing, and sign a SCR Waiver in order to row with the club. Download forms at the bottom of the page.

Squam Lakes Association Membership:
In order to preserve the beauty, character and natural resources of Squam Lake where we row, membership in Squam Lakes Association is required. We are also grateful to SLA for their support and access to Squam lake from their facility on Piper Cove. Membership provides you with access to free parking on Squam, access to SLA boat launch, and other benefits. Your tax deductible donation supports water quality monitoring, exotic plant management, education, and conservation, trail maintenance, and legislative efforts to conserve the beauty of the Squam Lake watershed. The individual member cost is $35 per year. Please visit www.squamlakes.org for more information about this conservation organization and the additional program and services they offer.
SCR club members are also required to maintain an annual USRowing Championship membership ($65 per year): www.usrowing.org
For experienced rowers who are visiting the area, use of our boats can be arranged for a donation. Please use the Contact Us tab to ask about availability.
